I. Statement of the Problem
A. Definition: Maria and her roommate Jenny do not deal with the relationship well.
B. Analysis: Maria Franchino is a international student and has never left her family before this time. Jenny a junior looks warm at first, but later they seldom think about each other before they do something. Jenny also takes her boyfriend home to sleep together. It is shocked to Maria for the different culture. They do not respect each other.
II. Suggestion of Possible Solutions
A. She can change a place to live.
B. She can adjust herself to adapt the different culture.
C. She can go back to Venezuela.
III. Evaluation of Possible Solutions
A. She can change a place to live
1. Advantages: She can be far away from her roommate. She can have a new environment to live and can find other roommate who suits her.
2. Disadvantage: Good roommate is not easy to find.
B. She can adjust herself to adapt the different culture.
1. Advantage: If she adapts the American culture, she will think her roommate’s behavior is common. She can be less surprise for that.
2. Disadvantage: She is from Venezuela and gowns up there, so it is hard for her to change her mind.
C. She can go back to Venezuela.
1. Advantage: She can see your family and friends soon. She can leave the place she does not like. Her family does not worry about her.
2. Disadvantage: She comes to the large university to study. She wants to learn more useful knowledge for herself. If she comes back this time, she will just learn a few.
IV. Selection of a Solution
A. Choice: (A&B) she can change a place to live at first and then she can adjust herself to adapt the different culture.
B. Justification: When you live with a person, you should adapt the environment. You should know your roommate’s hobbies. On the other hand, when you do something, you should think about your roommate’s feeling. Maria does not deal with the relationship between her roommate and her well. They cannot live together, so she has to move to change a place. She also should change her mind to adapt the American life because maybe she will have the same problem with her new roommate. I think the relationship between person to person is really important to our life. If you do well, you will be get more friends and become popular with other people.
